Built inside a firm that runs
real books for real people.

involy didn't start with a pitch deck. It started with a frustration — watching smart, capable self-employed people fail with tools that were never designed for them.

ThinkOpen Inc. is a managed IT and cybersecurity firm headquartered in Los Angeles. We've spent years doing digital transformation work for businesses of every size — setting up infrastructure, hardening security posture, and integrating the software stacks that modern companies run on.

Along the way, we kept running into the same problem. Our clients — engineers, consultants, contractors, property managers — were drowning in their finances. Not because they were bad with money. Because every tool available was built by accountants, for accountants. QuickBooks asks you to set up a chart of accounts before you can invoice your first client. YNAB budgets only what's in the bank, which for a freelancer is almost always the wrong number. FreshBooks is a solid invoicing tool that has no idea what your receivables mean for your actual cash position.

We watched people miss tax payments because they "felt fine" — not realizing that the $18,000 sitting in their checking account included $5,400 that belonged to the IRS. We watched consultants underbid projects because their budgeting app told them they could afford to — without accounting for the $12,000 invoice that was already 45 days overdue. We watched electricians and contractors operate on gut feel because the alternative was learning software that had a 40-hour learning curve.

In 2024, our founder sat down with a single question: what would a money app look like if it were built for the self-employed — not retrofitted for them? The answer became involy.

The core insight

The self-employed don't earn in smooth, predictable paychecks. They earn in lumps — a $15,000 project here, a $4,200 invoice there, a retainer that sometimes pays on time and sometimes doesn't. Their real financial picture isn't what's in the bank. It's what's in the bank pluswhat they're legitimately owed.

Every other tool ignores that second number. involy is built around it. We call it the receivables-aware budget: a safe-to-spend figure that weighs your outstanding invoices by collection history, factors in your automatic tax reserve, and gives you a number you can actually trust — not just a cash balance dressed up as a budget.

The rest followed from that: invoicing that takes 30 seconds because the tool remembers everything; an AI accountant that categorizes your transactions and answers plain-English questions about your books; proposals that convert to invoices in one click; automatic 1099 tracking for contractors. One app. One source of truth. No accounting degree required.

Security is in the DNA

ThinkOpen is a cybersecurity firm first. That means involy was built with a security-by-design posture from day one — not bolted on after the fact. We operate with a zero-trust architecture, least-privilege data access, and an offense-informed defense mindset: for every control we built, we asked how an adversary would bypass it. Your financial data is never sold, never used to train models, and never shared with third parties beyond the payment processor (Stripe) and email delivery provider that make the product work.

We are ThinkOpen Inc., 5420 McConnell Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90066. involy is our product. If you want to talk — about the product, a partnership, or just the problem we're solving — reach us at hello@involy.app.

Four values we won't compromise on.

Built for owners, not bookkeepers

Every screen is designed for the person running the business — not for the CPA reviewing it at year-end. Simple by default, powerful when you need it.

Calm money

Financial anxiety is real. involy is designed to reduce it, not add more dashboards. One clear number — your safe-to-spend — replaces five tabs of guesswork.

Honest by default

Your data is never sold. AI answers are in plain English, not jargon. When a number looks wrong, we say so — we don't hide complexity behind a pretty interface.

Offense-informed security

We're a cybersecurity firm. We think like attackers when we build defenses. Every control in involy was designed to withstand an adversary who knows what they're doing.
